(even though it’s disrupting the Republican conference)

So, it’s 7 years since Hurricane Katrina, and it seems that this guy has a direct line to God! Because God created the Universe in 7 days (actually it was 6, he rested on the 7th), it’s OBVIOUSLY the fault of the Gay people. (Let’s ignore the Republican conference shall we). Apparently God hates me so much he’s sending a hurricane to the USA, 7 years.

Hang on God, I don’t live in the USA. Have you missed?

I have to say I had to do a talk on Sunday at church, I was actually really struggling with my faith. This mainly due to the catholic leadership in the UK sending out a nice letter to be read in churches in Scotland about how bad gay people are and how marriage (that they invented at the council of Trent in the 1500’s, and was, incidentally modified by King Henry the 8th so he could get a divorce), would be completely ruined by sharing it with gay people. I know I shouldn’t let this stuff affect my faith, but it does.

Perhaps, in fact, if God is sending a message with this Hurricane it’s ACTUALLY about the Republicans. Who knows?

I’m sure if God was sending a message to Gay people by killing and destroying, at least he would make it clear.

Just an update to this story, the Southern Decadence website says they are going ahead. Which means, I guess God can’t be so angry with LGBT people having a party…perhaps he IS after all a little more angry about the republicans, or perhaps it’s just a storm.

What a wonderful piece, look at what he says…

“But my favorite green ink letter came from Mr. Angry of Suffolk who told me ‘It beggars belief that a bishop of the Church of England should think ‘love thy neighbor as thyself’ should apply to homosexuals.’ Well, Mr. Angry, let me beggar your belief; the Sermon on the Mount isn’t a discussion starter, it’s meant to be a way of life. Jesus’ love is for everybody and Christianity is not about persevering the past but love as strong as death. The local church often manages to be Good News in a very easy way – it’s time for the broader institution to catch up.”

Quite beautiful, eloquent and most of all affirming. Not much more to say but let’s see who else comes up to the mark after this.

Incidentally, the Sermon on the Mount he was talking about is from Matthew:

The Beginning of the Sermon on the Mount
1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
2 and he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
The Beatitudes
Lk. 6.20-23
3 ¶ Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 ¶ Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Is. 61.2
5 ¶ Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Ps. 37.11
6 ¶ Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.Is. 55.12
7 ¶ Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8 ¶ Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Ps. 24.45
9 ¶ Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
10 ¶ Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: 1 Pet. 3.14 for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 ¶ Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 1 Pet. 4.14
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets 2 Chr. 36.16 · Acts 7.52 which were before you.

Yup, it’s not a discussion it’s a way of life.

The nation of Gay is born…

Posted: August 20, 2012 in Uncategorized

So there is this little pub in Colchester who put up some rainbow flags. The local Parish Council told them to take the flags down because….

“Rules state that only one national flag can be flown without permission and the gay pride display was against advertising regulations.”

So where exactly is the nation of gay, and what exactly is he advertising?

I know he’s taken them down and made curtains out of them, so they are still displayed. I’m not sure quite what battle is being fought here. Is it..

1. the Christians on the Parish Council don’t like the gay flags.
2. the Parish Council don’t like rainbows.
3. the Parish Council think that by showing rainbow flags outside the pub he is advertising that he sells rainbows in the pub.

Perhaps the Parish Council could enlighten us. Oh by the way I’m not connected with the pub in any way. I just think it’s either an example of legalised homophobia at worst or petty jobsworthness.

So if he put up flags with say, nice flower patterns, that would be ok?

Well I don’t know really what the Guardian were thinking when they published this.

So I thought I’d do my own version.

1. You can’t chose to be gay, you either are or you are not.

2. If you are gay, you will already know exactly how gaydar works.

3. Dress as you do normally, dressing in drag is something some people do, some straight people dress in drag.

4. Taking drugs, is nothing to do with your sexuality.

5. You don’t need to like any particular type of music or person because you are gay.

6. If you’re camp, cool, if you’re not fine. I have met some very camp straight guys actually.

7. Cruising is a waste of time in my humble opinion. Try and build proper relationships that last.

8. Everyone has a protest at some time in their life, protesting, attending marches does not make you more or less gay. In fact, I know some quite “protesty” straight people.

9. Come out. It’s not always safe to come out and actually, just because you are gay doesn’t mean you have to come out. It’s just easier to live your life with people knowing than not. (sometimes).

10. Visiting the aids quilt will not affect your sexuality at all, it won’t even give you aids.

Job done!

You are what you are.

I recently read a story of two young gay guys who were holding hands walking down the road. Something I would love to do, expressing their love in a simple but meaningful way, but were subject to masses of homophobic abuse.

As a result this weekend there is a Gay Pride march in Tonbridge.. Their facebook page is:

It’s this Saturday, I can’t get along but I can’t wait to hear how things go and I’m praying they get a good reception and people learn.

It’s worth reading the page even if you can’t go, there’s a wonderful song written by someone called “Steph”.

Hilariously one of my favourite cartoon characters has been outed as gay!. Spongebob squarepants, who is made of foam and lives under the sea has yet to comment and his best friend Patrick who is a star fish, has gone into hiding.

Mr Eugene Crabs who runs the local Crabby Patty restaurant “Crusty Crabs”, has said that he still accepts Spongebob as an employee whatever his orientation, unlike those “silly Chik-a-fil” people. He also said that he has considered opening a gay bar in Bikini Bottom the small town where they live.

Sandy Cheeks, a right wing Christian Squirrel has said that although she thinks homosexuality is a choice, she understands Spongebob’s struggles and will support him.

Squid Tentacles, who it is rumoured may be transgendered (he’s a squid?!) was unavailable for comment.

According to the BBC ( as Spongebob has been seen holding hands with Patrick he must be gay??!!? Just like if you go to a burger bar, you instantly become a burger.

I saw it you know, with unfurled wings, that beat the sky,
I saw the seas rage at Noah’s boat hull,
I heard the screams of people drowning,
But I was held back,
I watched it, I did, when Abraham raised his knife over his Son,
Egypt, her sons, lost,
I watched the Ark of the convent Glisten with wings of seraphim,
I watched Gabriel speak softly to Mary,

I ministered to Him, the Lord,
In that dry desert,

But no one saw me,
I sat at the top of a building in America,
I unfurled my wings,
Then I soared over the grand canyon,
I held a car as it’s passengers escaped,
On a freeway in Memphis,
But, so often I am held back,
So often, because of the plan,
Now I sit here, on the edge of these white Cliffs of Dover,
Where I watched the bombers,
Now I just watch the boats,
And the sunrise,
The creator has called me back to heaven for now,
So I must soar on eagles wings,
I must be free,
It’s time for my primary task.
But I wait for the great redemption,
The Lord waits,
The redeemed wait,

Our day will come.
Until then, look up.
