Dear Dad

Hi Dad, Look I know you’re up there fixing the pipes in heaven, but I thought I’d write you a letter.

Dad, I just read a terrible letter, a letter that was sent to a young man from his father disowning him simply because the son was gay.

But you Dad were different from that, when I was outed and you found out the truth you never once condemned me, in fact the opposite you still accepted me as your son. Gay people Dad, often are really worried what those dearest to them will think, will they think less of them because they are Gay, and some do, as you know.

I feel immensely blessed by you and Mum because I feel like I can talk to you about anything, I know things were hard when we were young but it worked out in the end. Sure, we all have our faults but when it counts you are there for me.

I know not everyone will accept me, some people will hate me, people that claim to love the one you stand and worship in heaven every day, who preach a gospel of hate, which is not his gospel. But it doesn’t matter about that. Your love for me has made me stronger than ever.

Thanks Dad, and Mum. xxxx

PS here’s the letter the other poor guy got

  1. M says:

Wow, that is unbelievable. My heart goes out to this young man. This was always my greatest fear. This is certainly not an example set by Christ, who allowed himself to be mocked, beaten and crucified for the transgressions of all humanity. Greater love has no man than he who is willing to lay down his life for a friend. I don’t have all the answers but I do know that my God is much bigger than the God of these who are so bigoted.
