I am part of an amazing group of LGBT Christians who meet together ever 2 weeks for Bible study, fellowship and prayer. Last night  we started sharing some of the things people did to us to make us pray away the gay. Nothing ofcourse worked and what was really scary actually was that some of the things verged on abuse, actually some of them were quite abusive.

I notice that the same people do not have such a loathing for gluttony or other things outlined as terrible sins in the Bible. Have you ever seen an overweight person being exorcised or prayed over with gusto? Or someone who is wealthy prayed over for greed, no. Instead the offering bowl is passed under their nose! The Rich young ruler Jesus turned away, “sell everything you have”, instead would have been welcomed, “What must I do to enter the Kingdom of Heaven?”, “Give money now!”.

If you know a gay person, please just love them, understand that you probably don’t understand unless you are LGBT yourself. Don’t try and pray what is a big part of us, out of us. Instead pray that we will reflect the fruits of the spirit, Love, Joy, peace etc found in Galatians 5:22.

You see us LGBT Christians often struggle to feel accepted by Christ, right now I am meditating on Romans 8 1Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.…

If you are LGBT there is no condemnation for you if you are in Christ. NO condemnation. But when others condemn you for a long time, you can be tempted to condemn yourself.

You are so loved. really. God makes you his and he will hold you in his arms. We may be “the least of these” but we are still His.
