I have been a supporter for some time of a wonderful service to LGBTI youth in London. I have spoken their on LGBTI and the Christian faith and was treated with a lot of respect by the very special and important young people that attend.

Now the 4 youth workers that look after these precious people are going to lose their jobs on April 1st when the funding stops.

When I was a teenager I remember how isolated and alone I felt, being unable to talk to anyone, especially those closest to me about my struggles with being gay. With my condemnation of myself.

If there was a group like this for me I would have been so happy. Perhaps I would have avoided my disaster of a life and been confident and happy with who I was.

Please support them, there are some stories and Facebook posts below.

A gem from the Bible for you all “Does not nature itself teach you that if a man wears long hair it is a disgrace for him, but if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For her hair is given to her for a covering. If anyone is inclined to be contentious, we have no such practice, nor do the churches of God.” 1 Cor 11:14 to 16.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexual_behavior_in_animals  (just to warn you this entry in wikipedia contains a number of images of animals of the same sex being “intimate” with each other).

Using the same principle of Paul here observing the “Natural Order of things”. Now I bet you’ve never heard this passage preached on in your church. Why not? Because they will say “oh it’s cultural”. But by the same token, you have to then brand ALL of Paul’s teachings as cultural. Who decides what is cultural and what isn’t? No one.

The truth is we all take our culture and back up our own cultural norms with scripture, if it doesn’t fit we dump it and say “It’s cultural”. This is a terrible way of using scripture. Because often our cultural norms are wrong (remember slavery?).

The “it’s not natural” argument simply doesn’t stand up. Because if we follow nature, then nature teaches us that homosexuality is in fact part of nature, a big part. Did you know that dolphins often form same sex, life long partnerships?

It is how we live our lives that matter. Not who we are attracted to.

I have, in all my years of Bible study come to the conclusion that we need to Love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and love our neighbour as ourselves. Anything that tells us to break these commandments, (like marginalising or putting people down) is not from God. Because God is Love.

For my next blog post I might just talk about how Paul condemned gluttony. Oh yes, you’ve not heard that preached about in church either, have you?

Now, where are my clippers?

I’ll just leave this here.

Helping Love to overcome Hate.

One of the most awful churches in the USA has got to be the Atlah World Missionary church. Some of it’s Pastor’s rantings against LGBTI people have been stupid and awful. Turns out, he’s not been paying his bills.

The Pastor of this terrible church makes all kinds of odd claims like “Jesus would stone Homos”. Which is ofcourse complete bunkum. He’s obviously never read Matthew 11, or the bit where Jesus said “let the one without sin, cast the first stone”. In truth he’s probably gay himself and just can’t handle it and he hates himself so much that his hate pours out through his church.

His church, so filled with hatred is about to be sold at public auction. There are a few different people interested.

There’s a church that wants to buy it who is LGBTI affirming, the River of Water Ministries. If they are successful they will set up a homeless hostel for LGBTI youth. This could bring great healing to this area and to a lot of people, much more the message of Christ.

They’ve raised about $24000 in 3 days so I’m praying they will get all the money they need to do the job that Jesus wants for them.

Just incase anyone is confused, Jesus said to love God and love your neighbour, if you are an LGBTI person, a straight person or any other kind of person do not be afraid because he loves you so much.

Be affirmed, people like this are the goats that Jesus spoke about in the Sheep and the Goats scripture

From Matthew 25:31–46: “But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory. 32 Before him all the nations will be gathered, and he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats….
Christians should be engaged in Social action. Feed the hungry, clothe the naked, look after the prisoners and in fact pick on anyone rejected by society even if they are not like you, in fact, the more different they are from us the more we need to relate.
Bashing people with odd verses from the Bible is not loving or caring and is not from God. I pray that this wonderful accepting church who want to home the homeless get this church and redeem it from it’s evil past.
Love to all
