Something to ponder on…..

Up and down the country this weekend, there will be straight couples getting married in Church of England churches who hardly ever attend.

I attend almost every week, play in the band, work hard for the church but if I ever found any one I could not get married in the church I dedicate so much time and energy to.

In some churches ofcourse LGBT people are simply not welcomed. So I’m quite blessed to have a “safe place” to go.

Remembering this prayer from the prayer book

We do not presume to come to this thy Table, O merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in thy manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under thy Table. But thou art the same Lord, whose property is always to have mercy: Grant us therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of thy dear Son Jesus Christ, and to drink his blood, that our sinful bodies may be made clean by his body, and our souls washed through his most precious blood, and that we may evermore dwell in him, and he in us. Amen.

Yes, but some people have made themselves more worthy than others, and think that God approves of them doing so.

Christians are NEVER called to persecute other people. But, like the prophets of old, religious people think that by persecuting different groups of society they are doing God a favour.

Is not allowing gay couples who are faithful servants of the church to be married and letting people who never attend have more of a privilege right?

I think not.
